Pot Bearings

PTC pot bearings incorporate confined elastomer disks. They form the connection between a structure and its supports.

These bearings have the following advantages:

  • They resist low to very high vertical loads;
  • Transmission of high vertical and horizontal forces within small overall dimensions;
  • High amplitude movement capacity in one or two horizontal directions with a very low coefficient of friction and without any elastic return force;
  • High rotation amplitude along any horizontal axis, with a low resisting moment;
  • Very high resistance to dynamic loads.

DESCRIPTION

The PTC pot bearing is composed of an elastomer disk confined in a cylindrical space limited by a hollow base (the pot) and a piston.

Thus the elastomer behaves like an uncom-pressible liquid.

It can thus transmit very high loads and absorb rotations of the structure.

If the pot bearing is provided with a sliding plate, it becomes multi-directional and a guide can be added to make it single directional.
